One of my clients’ hired me to improve the eCommerce conversion rates for their site. This is not something I normally do, but with a long-standing relationship with this enterprise client — I gave up (I sometimes take up weird projects if the budget is better than good enough).
🤓After doing lots of front-end optimization, site speed improvement, my team and I — we were able to improve the conversion rate by 3.3x times. That took a loooot of work.
👉 But the one small weird trick that I discovered with A/B testing, had a good amount of effect on general sales/conversions/views everything at least 2x to 7x difference depending on the category (tech category had the best results) — and it took the least amount of effort.
💯 I’m sharing that weird trick, with you folks, I hope it helps. After discovering it, I see it being used by all the major eCommerce stores if not everywhere then in particular categories — especially Tech.
🎯 Remove the titles of products from every other page except the product’s own page. E.g. On homepage/category/archive/listing pages — just show the pictures and prices without the titles of what that product is.
✅ It’s counter-intuitive.
✅ I personally hate the UX of a site using this.
✅ But goddamn it works. It really does. Don’t be too aggressive with it, if you decide to follow through.
✅ Make sure you invest in making really good product feature images (that should never contain any text).
Peace! ✌
