One of my clients’ hired me to improve the eCommerce conversion rates for their site. This is not something I normally do, but with a long-standing relationship with this enterprise client \u2014 I gave up (I sometimes take up weird projects if the budget is better than good enough).<\/p>\n
\ud83e\udd13After doing lots of front-end optimization, site speed improvement, my team and I \u2014 we were able to improve the conversion rate by 3.3x times. That took a loooot of work.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udc49 But the one small weird trick that I discovered with A\/B testing, had a good amount of effect on general sales\/conversions\/views everything at least 2x to 7x difference depending on the category (tech category had the best results) \u2014 and it took the least amount of effort.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udcaf I’m sharing that weird trick, with you folks, I hope it helps. After discovering it, I see it being used by all the major eCommerce stores if not everywhere then in particular categories \u2014 especially Tech.<\/p>\n
\ud83c\udfaf Remove the titles of products from every other page except the product’s own page. E.g. On homepage\/category\/archive\/listing pages \u2014 just show the pictures and prices without the titles of what that product is.<\/p>\n
\u2705 It’s counter-intuitive.
\n\u2705 I personally hate the UX of a site using this.
\n\u2705 But goddamn it works. It really does. Don’t be too aggressive with it, if you decide to follow through.
\n\u2705\u00a0Make sure you invest in making really good product feature images (that should never contain any text).<\/p>\n
