Many would agree!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I had built this plugin to <a href=\"https:\/\/thewpcrowd.com\/thewpcrowd\/introducing-the-say-hi-to-thewpcrowd-wordpress-plugin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">say #Hi<\/a> to the WP Crowd members, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewpcrowd.com\/author\/jpetersen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jesse was one of us<\/a>. This is what I saw when I came to write this post in the WordPress admin panel. I am not sure what to say. I got to know him better only after he went public with his Cystic Fibrosis genetic disease. I feel like telling you all about him in a few points below.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s my way to remember him! <em>Jesse<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He was a family man \u2014 a husband and a father to two adorable boys<\/li>\n<li>Most known for being a <a href=\"http:\/\/studiopress.com\/developer\/jesse-petersen\" rel=\"noopener\">Genesis Preferred Developer<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A WordPress user since 2005, a developer since 2008 and a friend to many<\/li>\n<li>A plugin developer. His latest plugin was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/my.genesisthe.me\/plugins\/\">GenesisThe.me After Entry Widget Pro<\/a>\u00a0that added a widget after a post.<\/li>\n<li>He also has five plugins in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/peterdog\/#content-plugins\">WordPress repository<\/a>\u00a0including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/genesis-latest-tweets\/\">Genesis Latest Tweets<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/plugins\/stealth-login-page\/\">Stealth Login Page<\/a>. His last commit was only five days ago. :(<\/li>\n<li>A proud WordCamp Speaker, you can find him talking at <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.tv\/?s=Jesse+Petersen\" rel=\"noopener\">WordPress.tv<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A member of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewpcrowd.com\/\">\u00a0The WP Crowd<\/a>\u00a0and was on many of our podcasts.<\/li>\n<li>He was also a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/teamtreehouse.com\/jessepetersen\">Treehouse instructor<\/a><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: inherit;\">More about him at <a href=\"https:\/\/2017.us.wordcamp.org\/2017\/07\/05\/the-loss-of-one-of-our-own\/\" rel=\"noopener\">this WCUS blog post<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Jeff wrote about <a href=\"https:\/\/wptavern.com\/jesse-petersen-founder-of-genesis-the-me-passes-away\">Jesse on WPTavern<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"what-can-we-do\">What Can We Do?<a href=\"#what-can-we-do\" class=\"heading-link\">#<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>I wish if the WordPress foundation \u2014 or a non-profit fund could be set up for folks like him. The awesome WordPress community could be more awesome that way!<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"support-his-family\">Support His Family<a href=\"#support-his-family\" class=\"heading-link\">#<\/a><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>Jesse leaves behind a wife and two precious boys who will be going through a lot in the upcoming days. They also could use all the help they can get for last expenses and going forward.
