I’m Ahmad Awais<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’ve given roughly 30 talks a year for the past decade (almost 150 now). Conferences, meetups, workshops. My parents joke I’ve become a walking TED Talk. They’re not entirely wrong.<\/p>\n

Why so many? Because I default to building in public. If something excites me, I ship it. And talks are just another way of shipping. You’re iterating on ideas, except the feedback loop is a room full of people instead of GitHub issues.<\/p>\n

Knowledge compounds when you share it. That’s not just a nice saying. It’s actually true. The act of explaining something forces you to understand it. Nothing exposes the gaps in your thinking like a frown in row three.<\/p>\n

Most people fear public speaking. I do too. The butterflies show up every single time. I used to assume experienced speakers stopped feeling nervous. They don’t. What changes is where you put your attention. At some point you stop monitoring your own anxiety and start watching the room.<\/p>\n

That’s when it gets interesting. The nods. The smiles. The raised eyebrow. That’s when it gets interesting. You notice the guy in row five who just connected two ideas. The woman near the back whose eyebrow just went up. The exact moment a joke lands versus falls flat.<\/p>\n

Fun fact: I once ran a workshop for six hours straight. That sounds impressive but it’s really just stubbornness plus a room full of patient people who didn’t throw chairs at me.<\/p>\n
